Business Controller, PharmAccess Amsterdam (Fulltime)

The PharmAccess Group
The PharmAccess Group is dedicated to improving access to quality health care for people in sub-Saharan Africa. It mobilizes public and private resources for the benefit of doctors and patients through mHealth innovations, health insurance, loans to doctors, clinical standards, and impact research. The department
Next to the Financial Control department the Project Management Office (PMO) has been set-up with the aim of performing business control and to provide management a clear overview of progress of the entire project portfolio, improving quality of processes and ensuring identification and reporting of potential challenges and risks on time. The PMO is the information hub for projects and involves reporting, quality assurance/control, information management, financial tracking, risk management, change control and knowledge management/learning from experience. It will continue to expand its focus in terms of being a strategic partner for both the businesses and executive board/management in close liaison with the Financial Control department.

The Position
The Business Controller, a position within the PMO, together with a Jr. Business Controller, will be responsible for carrying out the following functions, which provide critical input into the project portfolio reporting process:
• Support in the budgeting process for new projects and organize these new projects administratively.
• Track actual spend and forecasting future costs.
• Report cost variances and adjusting program forecasts based on change control.
• Prepare operational and financial reports (management reports, business cases etc.)
• Prepare (bi)-monthly revised budgets.
• Together with head of PMO, drive the annual planning and budgeting processes by organizing working sessions with business- and general management.
• Assist business management in evaluating financial performance and actions necessary to improve results.
• Oversee risk analysis and impact (from financial perspective).
• Pro-actively initiate improvement processes in relation to financial planning and budgeting.
The Business Controller will report directly to the CFO and shall, for the daily activities, be a member of the PMO.

Qualification & Requirements
Our ideal candidate is a team player with a professional background in finance. You are a proactive professional with strong analytical skills. You have a solid accounting and financial reporting knowledge on a higher educational level (at least Bachelor, preferably Master) and working experience with an advanced financial management system. You have a very good knowledge of Excel and you are business oriented, willing to work closely with functions outside finance. A good understanding of the English and Dutch language in writing and speech is required. You are socially conscious and aware of the African setting of our projects. Travelling is no objection.
