Alliance at INTEREST
The purpose of the International Workshop of HIV Treatment, Pathogenesis and Prevention Research in Resource Limited Settings (INTEREST) meeting is to bring together a select group of scientists from the African Continent involved in HIV treatment, pathogenesis and prevention research, in order to share pivotal findings, promote coordination and collaboration, and to transfer experiences across fields and continents. The workshop focuses on issues of particular relevance for the African continent and gives the chance to young researchers to present themselves
This year the meeting will take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The 3 1/2-day meeting will continue to feature presentations of renowned invited speakers, abstract-driven presentations and poster presentations. On Wednesday May 11th a PharmAccess symposium  will be held, Chaired by PharmAccess Country Director Jan van den Hombergh and Program Director Geert Haverkamp. Topics that will be discussed are the Medical Credit Fundand the North Star Alliance. PharmAccess is now an official partner of the innovative North Star Alliance.

Background
The INTEREST workshop initiative was launched in 2007, speerheaded by Prof. Joep M.A. Lange, founder of PharmAccess and Prof. Charles Boucher and supported by a prominent panel of developing and developed country experts in the field of HIV/AIDS. Four focused meetings have been convened since its inception, the first being held in Uganda, the second in Senegal, the third in Zambia and the 4th in Mozambique, where specialists in the field of HIV prevention and treatment shared their knowledge and views with each other.
