On February 23, 2026, the Ogun State Ministry of Health officially launched the implementation of our Connected Diagnostics (ConnDx) approach in Abeokuta. This marks the first time the initiative is being implemented in Nigeria, a significant step for both the state and for us.
The challenge Conn Dx is addressing is well known: in many parts of Nigeria, patients are often treated for malaria without confirmatory testing. The launch in Ogun State represents a concrete response bringing together public and private health actors around a shared commitment: no patient should be treated without first being tested.
Training providers, changing habits
Training is at the heart of the rollout. Community pharmacies, medicine vendors, and primary health center teams received hands-on instruction in malaria case management and digital reporting. As part of the training, they were introduced to an AI-powered app, developed with our partner Audere, that guides providers through each step: triage, testing, treatment, and follow-up tracking.
For many participants, this marked a real shift. Rather than relying on symptoms alone, they can now follow a guided, evidence-based process for every patient — to test, treat, or refer. The results are already visible: the first rapid diagnostic tests are being recorded in the system, a concrete sign that the new approach is taking hold.

Bringing transparency
ConnDx isn’t just about individual consultations. By capturing real-time data across providers, the initiative builds a clearer picture of malaria patterns across Ogun State, bringing transparency and giving health authorities the information they need to respond faster and plan better.
This is made possible by a wide coalition of partners: the Ogun State Ministry of Health, the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, the Nigeria Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers, Society for Family Health Nigeria, Codix Pharma Ltd, and PharmAccess. A shared governance structure and phased rollout ensure accountability at every level.
