Dive into our Progress Report 2024

The future of healthcare in Africa is being written today—with innovation, equity, and people at the center.  PharmAccess’ Progress Report 2024 outlines a year of transforming healthcare systems through digital, data-powered, and patient-centered innovations, proving that resilient systems can deliver more, even in times of financial constraint and global disruption.

Key results from 2024:

  • More than 42 million people are able to access social health insurance in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and Ghana, enabled through our programs and technical assistance
  • CarePay supported care for over 5 million people, strengthening its partnerships with leading insurers and expanding across markets,
  • SafeCare’s quality platform usage grew fourfold, and SafeCare is now active in 25 countries
  • Medical Credit Fund (MCF) issued nearly 1,600 digital loans, and scaled technical assistance for healthcare SMEs, including women-led clinics.

We piloted hybrid “click-and-brick” maternal care in Kenya, embedded AI and predictive tools in care journeys, and scaled shared health records and data dashboards across Kenya and Tanzania. In Tanzania alone, digital pregnancy tracking helped raise facility deliveries from 17% to 52%.

We also launched a proof of principle for health data cooperatives, a new model that puts patients in control of their data, enabling safe, consent-based sharing and smarter financing.

We thank our partners—including the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Postcode Lottery—for enabling these results.
