Case for Change is an initiative by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA), which believes mobile has the power to create a better future for all. For some people, connectivity is already making a world of difference. Case for change offers them an opportunity to tell their stories on what mobile operators globally are doing to tackle the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
M-TIBA is featured as #CaseforChange in Kenya and illustrates how mobile technology is improving access to better healthcare for those who need it the most. Kenyan people have a very high affinity for mobile technology. Nowadays, about 25 million Kenyans are on Safaricom using their mobile phone and M-TIBA has reached over 800,000 people. The increase in the usage of the mobile health platform coincides with the huge leap that Kenya has made with connectivity. Bob Collymore, head of Safaricom states: “Africa has risen to become the world’s second-most connected region in terms of mobile subscriptions”.
