How mobile technology helps us understand what matters most to patients

In Kenya, a PharmAccess partnership pilot project with the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) is using digital solutions to develop an understanding of how the principles of value-based healthcare in low and middle-income countries can be applied.

The outcomes aim to reflect what matters most to patients by using mobile technology to gain an insight into their needs while documenting and empowering a patient’s treatment. Focusing on pregnancy and childbirth at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, the power and potential of digital technology through M-TIBA is being harnessed for large scale data collection. Ultimately we are demonstrating the new avenues of change open to the healthcare system – not just in the west but even in the most impoverished parts of Kenya.
