Onno Schellekens, managing director of the PharmAccess Group, spoke at the Amsterdam leg of TEDxChange on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013.
He shared his ideas behind the new paradigm for increased access to health care in Africa, emphasizing that “this is not rocket science.” By explaining how we work, and reminding us of how the Western world became rich, he instilled the audience with a sense of the possibilities that thinking outside the box can bring to the world of health and development.
TEDxChange is an event created out of a partnership between the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the TEDx program. It is designed to act as a catalyst for ideas worth spreading about global health and development, and facilitate discussions on topics such as vaccines, polio, malaria, HIV/AIDS, maternal and newborn child health development. The theme this year was positive disruption and how change can pave the way for true progress in the global community.
