Professor Khama Rogo new chair of PharmAccess

PharmAccess Group and its Supervisory Board welcomes global health advocate and expert Prof. Rogo as chair, Els Boerhof takes seat as new vice-chair.

Amsterdam, August 15, 2022 – Professor Khama Rogo has been appointed as the next chair of the Supervisory Board for PharmAccess Group, as of September 13, 2022. Prof. Khama Rogo will take over this position from Professor Pauline Meurs, who has been Supervisory member since 2016 and chair since 2018. Current member of PharmAccess Supervisory Board, Els Boerhof, will become vice-chair.

As a pioneer and expert in the impact investment sector, Els Boerhof has been a valued member of the Supervisory Board since she joined the Board, early this year. In her new role as vice-chair, she will focus on governance and finance and especially the longstanding partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Dutch private sector partners.

Prof. Pauline Meurs, current chair of PharmAccess, has decided to step down after ten years of Supervisory Board membership. Nicole Spieker: ‘We could not be more grateful for Prof. Meurs’ guidance, knowledge, and experience during those years. She is a leading example in women empowerment, supporting us to improve the access to quality healthcare for all in sub-Saharan Africa. We will greatly miss her energetic, warm personality, and want to sincerely thank her for her service’.

Incoming Chair Prof. Rogo said: ’After working with the organization for over more than 10 years it is a great privilege to now serve as chair. With its innovative and evidence-based solutions PharmAccess has become a well-respected name in the African health sector. I look forward to working with the staff as they deliver on their mission to make inclusive healthcare markets work’.

Prof. Khama Rogo’s background
Prof. Khama Rogo has been Lead Health Sector Specialist at the World Bank, and Head of the World Bank Group’s Health Africa Initiative. Prof. Rogo, a highly respected specialist in Reproductive Health and Cancer, chairs Kenya’s National Tobacco Control Board and is a prominent advocate, activist, and global authority on women’s health. He is also the author of over 100 papers and book chapters and continues to inspire a large audience on the future of healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa. Prof. Rogo resides Sagam, West Kenya.

Els Boerhof’s background
Els Boerhof is currently the Managing Partner and co-owner at the impact investment firm Goodwell Investment, providing risk capital and hands-on support to fast-growing businesses in emerging markets. In 2021 she was named one of the 50 women leading the sustainability in finance movement in The Netherlands by Dutch Magazine P+. Ms. Boerhof is a member of the Supervisory Board of Musoni System and was a member of the board of the Directors of the CreditAccess Asia N.V. and Women’s World Banking Ghana.
